"Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you are climbing it."

—Andy Rooney

It was Saturday afternoon and I had just been scrolling through Instagram feeds of friends posting from beach vacays, mountain camping trips, and adventures overseas. The normal travel envy had set in. I checked the clock (only 1pm) and ran over to Stefan and said, 'We've gotta get out of the house!' So in the car we went with a plan to drive to the top of Mt Evans, a road only open in the summer months, and one that is the highest paved road in North America. The weather was undecided with storms scattered here and there but clear enough overall that it didn't deter our journey to the top.

It might not have been a glamorous 10 day stay in a posh hotel on the beaches of a foreign land, but it was a little afternoon adventure that afforded us beautiful views of mountains, the Denver Skyline way off in the distance, and plenty of friendly mountain goats! By the time we got to the top we were truly in a cloud, and altitude headaches set in as well climbed out of the car and up the rocky path to the summit, but it was a perfect little trip away to explore!

Here's a few pictures of our afternoon; the boys and Stefan, the dogs, myself and of course, the mountain goats!

This mountain goat was wondering why I was in his hood! Unafraid of staring me down, I love that he just took his moment on camera in full stride!

You wouldn't know it, because we were inside of a cloud, but this is the top of the summit at 14,265'!
