when you reduce life to black and white, you never see rainbows.

I am always eager to support families of all varieties - both in my personal life and professionally. As a photographer, I welcome clients of all gender identities, ethnicities, races, and sexual orientations. I adore documenting the wide array of personalities and people that come before my lens and welcome diversity in all its forms. That's why I was so happy to photograph these two beautiful mamas and their sweet little girls in downtown Denver, and why I'm excited to feature this session in honor of Pride Month.

The RiNo arts district in Denver is sprinkled with colorful murals - the perfect fit for this vibrant family. I made sure I took the time to scope out some murals ahead of time, so I would know which ones to hit throughout the session. I knew the littlest of the bunch would certainly need a power piece for her solo portraits, and boy did we find it! We spoke ahead of time about how we wanted to showcase her uniqueness and strength, and I think this mural of black queens with black hair as a crown was the perfect spot.

This sweet girl chose her own spot for her solo photos. She loved the colored “hope” hearts, and I just love how she looked stunning, whether she was giving me her sweetest smile or her fiercest stare.

There was so much color and love throughout the rest of the session. I had a blast exploring the streets of RiNo with this beautiful family and getting to know them better. As a thank you, they gifted me a beautiful Lepidolite and Orange Calcite bracelet. I love it and think of them every time I wear it!

If you're looking for a family session in an urban setting...

Let's take it out and "in the light"! Vibrant murals, city buildings, asphalt and sidewalks make an amazing backdrop for family photos. So, let's meet downtown in your favorite city or neighborhood. Share some info with me on my scheduling page and I will reach out to take it from there!
